Another year has gone by, and i can’t believe we’re already here celebrating again. Celebrating six years presents me with a variety of thoughts and feelings. At first. i felt a little silly throwing a big six celebration. I though to myself, who celebrates 6? A half decade was great, something to really celebrate . . but six . . am i overdoing it? Then i really thought about it. 6 isn’t just a number representing my stream today. It’s not even displaying the last year, it represents ALL of the years i’ve been here… we’ve been here. Every tear, fear, and silly moment that we’ve ever shared. To not celebrate another year would take away from every single day iCry has existed leading up to now, and that would be criminal.
I’ve thought a lot about this celebration, what it means, what i’d do for it, how the theme would be and who would i see on the day of. Needless to say the choice of Lalaloopsy may not be something the untrained eye could understand, but the decision was not as whimsy as the decor displays. Since the beginning of my streams i have attempted to cultivate a meaningful space, not only for myself but for anyone who lalala’s their way into it. In time i’ve realized more and more what iCry and my purpose is in the day to day life, and every year i earn greater insight as to what i truly want this to all be for. To say that I haven’t had doubts would be a lie, but to say i am not proud of what a built would be a bigger one. To share nearly everyday of your life with someone, let alone A LOT of someones, for hours on end can be a lot, and sometimes expectations can take away from something really great. No, i am not Pokimane, no i am not super famous or extremely rich, but I do have a lot of people I care about. And in turn, I have been gifted something much greater than online glitz and glamour, authentic connections. True love. Unconditionally. The opportunity to embrace one another as we all take our first steps day by day and decide the people we want to be within this society. Accepting and appreciating each others flaws and imperfections. iCry is never just about me, Skai, it is what those who take part and make of it.
The theme whimsy has been prevalent to our community this last year more than ever before. As someone who is staunchly about planning, this practice has been no easy task. We’ve had name changes, island changes, dramatic aesthetic shifts, and a whole lot more openness. . . . i think that is what true friendship is all about. Sometimes, I look back at the last six years and wonder how different I am, or how much of the same i can still be. I worry that people who have followed me all these years will perceive me in an entirely different light then the one we first met under. But the truth is, whether i’ve dramatically changed or i still feel the same to you, it doesn’t matter. It would be insane to be the exact same as I was more than half a decade ago. It would be insane if anyone was exactly the same as they were before a major life shift, the transition from youth to adulthood, and so on and so forth.. And regardless of any of that, it would be absurd to think a space that promotes change, and expression of one self, would even foster such perceptions or thoughts. All this to say that the message of iCry, “it's okay to be sensitive. It's okay to be yourself. It's okay to change who you want to be at any given time, It's okay to have big dreams you don't even know if they are truly attainable or not. It's okay to not know. It's okay to take things slow. It's okay to just live. Find you, the rest will follow.” applies now more than ever. These are words of wisdom i shared with you last year, and in the time that i shared them to now, i have lived them, and i hope that you will not be afraid to live them too.
I have decided to take a more vulnerable approach this year to my letter, i felt that after so many years together it is the least i can do for such loving and devoted friends. Over the years i have been so blessed by each of you, and it still to this day feels surreal to say that one day i clicked live and never stopped. How lucky i am to have such free will and an audience to share it with. How fortunate that I have so many people who set aside time for me in their life. I can not thank you enough. I truly believe that this is a big part of my life’s calling, and we all were meant to cross paths for one reason or another. Thank you for gifting me a beautiful ever growing space that thrives off of my love and passion. The most beautiful, unique, and treasurable gift I'll ever receive. Thank you for helping foster a space with me where i can pour out love that I feel so heavy in my chest and don’t have a real space to really put it. Thank you to every beautiful person who's ever loved me. I remember each of you, and you’ll forever hold big space in my mind and heart. There's so many things I can say, and i know in time i’ll find away to say it all one day.
For now, thank you so very much for being the number one supporters to my creativity. For showing up for me in some of the most exciting and hardest times of my life. For accepting me as a person every single time i come online. Thank you for being true friends to me and supporting me as time passes by and i develop more and more of the person i want to be.
The blessing it is to have days like this to highlight the impact I've had in this life, the impact i will continue to have as the world continues to spin…. the truest accomplishment I'll carry with me forever.
